trigger warnings: i take accountability for the fact that i have not done tws in the past. i will from now on be conscious of putting "tw: [content that may be triggering]" before posts that i think need that. i will also put those into the tags for use w/ things like savior. please let me know a preferred system for you/tw's that i do not do that you need and/or want.

i saw this picture and thought about an alternative to the hankie code where painting a specific fingernail/color would serve to “flag” in a similar way… and you don’t need pockets (solves my whole flagging-whilst-wearing-a-dress problem).
Brilliant. I don’t wear nail polish and I’m not even into flagging, and still I thought about some femme langourously stretching their hands over a bar to show off their ring finger “flags” and swooned a little inside.
This is brilliant.
Well colour me speechless this is one of the more wonderful ideas I’ve seen in a long while.
FEMME FLAGGING HANKY CODE BRILLIANCE OH MAN LET’S ACTUALLY DO IT.
Also please let’s make up one for “let’s stay up all night watching Buffy while half asleep and not touching.”
yessss!!!
right now my nails are “wet cement” and my left thumb is black and my middle finger is half diagonal grey/half black. as i was painting on the black over the grey yesterday i asked my boifriend, “what kind of anarchists have are black and grey? cause i’m totally nail-flagging that right now”
can i just say: i love that all the femmes on tumblr are queering the fuck out of this photograph. when i first saw it on my dash & hadn’t read the commentary, i was surprised critical folks were endorsing starbucks (which has a record of union busting/appropriating and suing indigenous folks/gentrification/etc.) but then i read the comments and i smiled a lot. y’all are fucking genius.
i also just came back from lots of flirting and good times in toronto, for the first time since i got “civil unioned” and was thinking a lot about what the ring on my finger means… and how it might impede my attempts at sexytimes with people who might make lots of assumptions about what that means. i love the idea of queer flagging, especially on a ring finger.
So I came on tumblr to find an image I reblogged/commented on a while ago blowing up! Just for clarity, I am queer but I am not femme-identified. I am, however, into gender-politics, which include femme-identities! (Also,my partner is super cool and femme and smart, so there’s that.)
That being said, I really do back up this flagging idea. I was thinking about the gay (white) male culture where flagging originated, and how to queer this concept, something that quelola explicitly talks about. Also, I really liked the idea of reblogging w/ the commentary that I did where most people were reblogging bc of their love for Sbux coffee and diamondz (my jokes and sarcasm are often cryptic and indecipherable, I will try to get better at that!)
