“if i have to read one more story about how racist white people are or how oppressive men are I might just drop english 205….”

I totally feel you, it must be so annoying to have to read and talk about other people’s oppression and institutionalized injustice every other school day. Good thing you’re a white male and only have to endure three 50-minute classes of it a week. If only readings were more reflective of real life, then they’d be entertaining.

What's An Antioxidant?

Via Huffington Post

Antioxidants are substances that sop up free oxygen molecules, which some believe may prevent the damage that occurs naturally through daily life to our cells and DNA.

When our tissue comes into contact with oxygen as we breathe and eat, a process called “oxidation” occurs which can set off a reaction that permanently damages cells — and even DNA — within your body. Although this is a lot of science talk, oxidative stress may contribute to the development of a host of conditions — including cancer, cataracts, arthritis, stroke and heart disease.

Antioxidants may contribute to the prevention of oxidative stress. Some of the most common antioxidants include Vitamin E, Vitamin C, Uric Acid and Melatonin. They can be ingested naturally through certain foods or be taken in supplement form.

Chichi Kix Definition

Think of it this way. Ever leave an apple out? You know when it turns all brown & yucky? Think about the damage in that sense. Oxygen causes damage to our bodies, but our bodies naturally bounce back with some ‘don’t be doing that’ mojo. BUT, there’s only a certain amount of that bouncing back our bodies can do on its own. Antioxidant enriched foods give us the BOOST we need to slow down all that yucky brown (but natural) damage, and help us live longer & healthier as a result. Your body’s the apple. Antioxidants keep it delicious for as long as possible.

Foods high in antioxidants? Blueberries, strawberries, cranberries, kidney beans, pinto beans, artichokes, blackberries, russet potatoes, and more.
